Craddockstown Golf Club, Naas, Ireland
Set in beautiful parkland in Co. kildare, Ireland, Craddockstown Golf Club was just over 10 years old when Roger Jones Golf Design was contracted to upgrade the 18-hole course. The challenge given to RJGD was to enhance the golfing challenge, add to the aesthetics, make better use of some of the existing natural features, and address some persistent problem areas.
The scheme undertaken was extensive, with the construction of many new features including some new greens, teeing areas, realignment of some holes, new bunkers, fairway mounding, water feature extension, together with all associated drainage and landscaping works.
Throughout the construction phase the course remained open for play by members and visitors, which was a key requirement of the club in the planning of the redevelopment. This was successfully achieved with a carefully planned programme of communication and responsibilities.
The work was completed in 2003 and the changes were very soon seamless. Since relaunch the club has further established itself as one of the most desirable in the Co. Kildare area which can boast neighbours like the famous K Club [venue for numerous European Open Championships and the 2006 Ryder Cup Matches], PGA National and Carton House.
The club maintains a thriving membership and a high level of visitor green fee revenue.
